Part 3: Neighborhood Walk

NEIGHBORHOOD WALK
Exploring a neighborhood with the eyes of a planner can be fun. Learn to look, listen, touch, and smell to your environment. Where are the people? What are they doing? What are the buildings used for? Are the buildings old or new? Does anything look like it doesn't belong in the neighborhood? Where are the cars? What is interesting? What is surrounding the neighborhood?

Important: Adult supervision is required. Have your parent or teacher take you to the neighborhood study area. Do not go onto private property.

WHAT TO DO:
  1. Choose a study neighborhood from the list below.
Worksheet 2 - Cucamonga Neighborhood (Foothill & Archibald)
Worksheet 2 - Southwest Cucamonga Neighborhood (Arrow & Madrone)

  5. Take pictures of the things you like or do not like about the neighborhood.
  6. Draw sketches in your journal.

  8. When you stop, think about what would be cool to see in the future on that spot.
